Kkwe
Images like “yukwae” (cheerful), “sangkwae” (refreshing), “tongkwae” (greatly satisfying), and even “bulkwae” (unpleasant) are invoked by the single syllable “kkwe” in Korean, and represented in the traditional shamanistic rite, 'GUT'. This project is an interesting encounter of traditional witticism with contemporary speech and the collapse of boundaries between stage and audience. While the shaman was the only one active in GUT, all present become engaged in this performance as the barrier between performers and audience disappears.
