Gyeonggi Sori project series
The Gyeonggi Sori Project grew from the idea of producing and building a wide repertoire for storytelling performances centered on traditional vocal music with clear concepts. Traditional vocal music used to be considered one-off entertainment included to enliven other programs in existing performances. This project aimed to highlight a new channel through which traditional music can engage and connect with today’s audio enthusiasts by weaving musical elements of other genres into the performances while preserving the authenticity of Gyeonggi Sori delivered by Lee Hee-moon. Its differentiated stage composition and dramatic devices are also eye-catching.
경기소리 프로젝트 시리즈
경기소리 프로젝트는 기존 공연에서 1회적으로 소비되어버리던 전통성악을 공연의 중심으로 끌어와 레파토리화 하자는 생각에서 시작되었다. 이희문이 가지고 있는 경기소리의 고유성을 지킴과 동시에 관객의 흥미를 이끌어 낼 수 있는 다른 장르의 음악적 요소들을 공연에 접목시키는 한편, 차별화된 무대구성과 극적 장치들을 보여줌으로써 전통음악이 이 시대에 참여할 수 있는 또 하나의 통로를 제시하고자 했다.
The Emperor Listens to Hee-moon
Premiering in July 2010, this performance was part of the Gyeonggi Sori project series that shed new light on the 100-year history of “Gyeonggi Sori,” traditional folk music from the central province around Seoul, using Park Chun-jae as it's motif, who was a Gyeonggi Sori master and favored by Emperor Gojong. The concept of the performance is that Lee Hee-moon models himself as Park, the special director for entertainment for Gojong, and performs at a court banquet where the audience stands in as Emperor Gojong. It has been lauded as upholding well the spirit of “building on the old to create something new that still honors the fundamentals.”
황제, 희문을 듣다
2010년 7월 초연된 공연으로, 고종황제의 총애를 받았던 경기명창 박춘재를 모티브로 경기소리의 100년사를 재조명 본 경기소리프로젝트이다. 고종황제 대신 관객을 황제로 모시고 이희문 자신이 가무별감 박춘재로 투영되어 궁중연희를 연행한다는 컨셉으로 진행된 이 공연은 ‘옛것에 토대를 두되 그것을 변화시킬 줄 알고 새 것을 만들어가되 근본을 잃지 않아야 한다’라는 법고창신의 정신을 잘 살렸다는 평을 받았다.

Another Gyeonggi Sori project by Lee and premiering in 2012, this performance emerged from curiosity as to what would happen if a stage were set up for stay-at-home mothers. Traditional Gyeonggi minyo songs are reinterpreted in a contemporary sense and enjoyable for all.
거침없이 얼씨구
2012년에 초연된 이희문의 경기소리프로젝트. ‘집에서 밥하다 나온 어머니들과 함께 무대를 만든다면 어떤 일이 생길까라는 호기심으로 시작되었다. 전통으로 전해오던 경기민요를 현대적으로 재해석하여 누구나가 즐길 수 있도록 친숙하게 만들었다는 점에서 좋은 평가를 받았다.
